Please keep these reminders handy:
- The speed limit inside the neighborhood is 25 MPH. Remind your teenage drivers as well. We have a large number of children who play outside regularly and so we need to be cautious and drive slowly.
- Stay off the ponds in the winter. Any ice that may form is not safe to walk on. Please monitor your kids when they are out playing in the snow.
- Keep up with exterior maintenance of your home. This includes replacing in a timely fashion siding and/or shutters lost to wind or damage. Also keeping your yard clean.
- Keep lawns mowed and trimmed regularly. Also keep your decorative beds looking their best. If you will be on vacation for an extended time, please get someone to care for the lawn in your absence.
- Daily long-term parking on the edge of the road is NOT allowed per policy resolution 2006-04. Please comply with this resolution, as it is primarily for safety on our roads. Remind overnight visitors to your home of this as well.
- Pets are a) NOT allowed off your personal property at ANY time without a leash; b) must be cleaned up after immediately in common areas (this includes TRAILS, streets, ditches, tot lots, etc); and c) not allowed to be out barking between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. This too is per a policy resolution 2005-01 and is there for the comfort of all residents.
- Cats have become an issue. If your neighbor’s cat is using your sandbox or intruding on your property, or your cat is using other’s property, please discuss it with your neighbor to come up with a suitable solution.
- ARB submissions MUST be made and approval received BEFORE construction begins. Please see the websitewww.grayrockhoa.com for application information and remember to send the $5 application fee with your request to the PO Box on the application. Time to receive approval averages 2 weeks when applications are properly submitted. HOWEVER: Missing information and/or fee may cause delays up to the maximum 60 day turnaround. Please note: ANY exterior change to your home, including fences (even if your neighbor has an identical one) gazebos, sheds, even paint and shutters if they differ from current colors, must be approved by the ARB.
- Parking in the cul-de-sacs in Grayrock is PROHIBITED. This area is a state road and needs to be kept clear for emergency vehicle access.
- Yard sales and lemonade stands are not allowed on common areas. Please limit these to your own property. We have a community yard sale every spring, please check the website for details.
- Report vandalism and suspicious activity directly to Albemarle County Police. Emergencies should go to 9-1-1, and non-emergencies should call 977-9041.
- The neighborhood ponds aren't for public use - please discourage any non-resident from fishing there.
